Abstract

Madhumeha (Type 2 Diabetes mellitus) is a syndrome with disturbed metabolism and hereditary immune mediated involvement and its becomes worse with evident of life threatening complications like Neuropathy, Nephropathy, Retinopathy along with pathological changes that involves small and large vessels leading to myocardial problems and cerebrovascular accidents.
Ayurveda emphasizes on the radical treatment by the use of Panchakarma therapies, which are primarily bio-cleansing in nature and corrects the basic pathological factors involved in the disease and regularize metabolism. The drug used in Panchakarma detoxification process are nontoxic, medicated oils and ghee, together with Panchakarma procedure sequentially loosen and remove lipid soluble toxicants from their deposited sites and stimulate their elimination. In Ayurveda Panchatikta pancha prashritika Basti (PPP Basti) is specially indicated for Madhumeha.1 In this clinical study PPP Basti has given in diagnosed Diabetic Patient and their result shown statistically significant improvement in the sign and symptoms.
